Supporting Santa Cruz’s Seabright community

To support mobility and transit in Santa Cruz’s Seabright community during the Murray Street Bridge Retrofit Project, METRO is launching Seabright Shuttle, a free, flexible, curb-to-curb service to help residents, employees and visitors travel efficiently around the Seabright area utilizing METRO’s ParaCruz vans. The Seabright Shuttle will pick you up at your home or business and take you to the nearest bus stop, or will pick you up from the bus stop to your Seabright area destination, Monday through Friday from 8AM to 6PM.

Whether you’re headed to work, running errands, or connecting to the broader METRO bus network, this temporary service offers a convenient way to move throughout the Seabright area without relying on a personal vehicle.

FAQs

The Seabright Shuttle is a program that operates on-demand, shared-ride shuttle service utilizing METRO ParaCruz vans. Unlike fixed-route buses, vehicles do not follow a set path or schedule. Riders book trips and the route adjusts dynamically based on demand.

Construction on the Murray Street Bridge has temporarily limited access and affected travel patterns in the Seabright community. This service provides a reliable, flexible transportation alternative during the project.

Seabright Shuttle service begins January 26th and will operate through the duration of the bridge retrofit project. Updates will be posted at scmetro.org.

You can request a ride by calling METRO ParaCruz at (831) 425-4664 or downloading the Mobility by Ecolane App

Wait times will be dependent upon vehicle availability and pre-scheduled rides. There will be a standard window of 5-45 minute wait for your vehicle. Upon arrival, the driver will only wait 3-minutes, so please be ready at the curb for pick-up.

If you are not ready within the 3-minutes window, the driver will leave, and we will not return. However, if you know you won’t be ready at the time of your ride, please call METRO ParaCruz up to 15 minutes before the ride to change your pick-up time for a later time. Cancellations must occur at least 5 minutes before the window.

There will be no fare as this service connects with METRO’s fixed-route bus service. When transferring to the Seabright Shuttle service, please present a transfer ticket from your bus operator. When transferring to the fixed-route service, simply pay your fare when boarding the regular fixed-route bus.

Trips must start and end within the Seabright Shuttle Zone, and will be taken to/from the nearest fixed-route bus stop for transfer.
